Terri Roben - vocalist, singer-songwriter, children's music teacher

Terri Roben is a veteran singer-songwriter from the New York Capital District.  She plays guitar, banjo, ukelele, and mountain dulcimer.  She produced three recordings, "Terri and Maria", with Maria Caccavo; "Riverwalk & Other Songs" a cd of original children's music; and "The Path We Make", a cd of mostly original songs, featuring accompaniment by The Ramblin' Jug Stompers, Sten Isachsen and Gail Smallwood.  She played in a trio, "Dangerous On Decaf", performing jug band, rockabilly, folk, blues, pop and Latin music.  She has performed in restaurants, festivals, farmer's markets, cafes, rallies, picket lines, demonstrations, libraries, environmental fairs, schools, weddings, parties and select benefits.

Roben Kosek Jazz & Blues is her latest preoccupation and she is thrilled to make and perform music with talented jazz guitarist MaryAnn Kosek, along with other musicians who join the duo when a trio or quartet is needed. She is a member of Local #14 Albany Musicians Union, as well as a member of The People’s Music Network and The Children’s Music Network.

Maryann Kosek - guitarist, arranger

MaryAnn Kosek began playing guitar and piano at an early age. Her father was an accomplished local jazz guitarist/bassist who influenced her desire to learn and play jazz. She grew up listening to the old standards from the 1930’s and 40’s.

MaryAnn began playing guitar at nursing homes and eventually joined a few local bands, playing country, 1950s and 1960s music; Beatles, blues and popular songs. She plays and writes music for the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center children’s programs, and also collaborates with other professional local musicians at various venues.

Her underlying love of early jazz brought her to co-create RK Jazz & Blues with her musical partner, Terri Roben,  who has also performed in the Capital District of NY for many years. Together they team up to play mostly early jazz, blues and some contemporary music.  MaryAnn also plays piano, banjo, ukulele and mandolin but focuses mainly on guitar.

She is a member of Local #14 Albany Musicians Union.

Ben Rau - Drummer

Ben Rau has been playing drums since he was in the third grade and his sticks have taken him far. He earned degrees in Music Education and, happily, this love of music led to a 34 year career as a music educator. Along the way, he developed a career in performance working with a variety of jazz and blues ensembles, rock groups and big bands. Ben's presence helps create a great music environment for performers and audience. He is a member of Albany Musicians Association Local #14.
